We had a very productive end of the year with many projects completed ahead of 2026. Alongside new wildflower planting, the refurbished and black painted railings at the Limpsfield traffic lights smarten the crossing, better reflect the village’s historic character and strengthen the visual link to Wolf’s Row (which is also in the Conservation Area).

As we head towards the festive season, there’s lots going on with Limpsfield Parish Council!
Our village blooms are still looking lovely, and the newly painted railings at the Limpsfield traffic lights have smartened up this important connection with Wolf’s Row. We’re looking forward to seeing all the beautiful Remembrance poppies at St Peter’s Church and hope to see you at the Remembrance Sunday service on 9 November with Limpsfield Royal British Legion and the Oxted Band.

Local Government Reorganisation in Surrey – Key Points
The government has now confirmed that Surrey will move to two new unitary councils — East Surrey and West Surrey — from April 2027. This is hardly a big surprise, and not the three unitary authorities that Tandridge and most of the districts (all except for Elmbridge and Mole Valley) were hoping for, and which we believe would have better represented our interests, geography and local cultural and business links, but the deal is done, so we can at least now move forward with the reorganisation process.

The UK government’s recent devolution proposals aim to restructure local governance in England by replacing the existing two-tier system of county and district councils with larger unitary authorities, each serving populations of at least 500,000 residents.
In Surrey, this means that the current county council and its 11 district and borough councils, including Tandridge District Council, are slated for abolition and consolidation into one or more unitary authorities – the most likely scenario is believed to be two unitary authorities.

There has been some concern about the notice posted by Surrey County Council at the Glebe Field, regarding The Diocese of Southwark’s Landowner Deposit. Please note this is not related to a planning application and has been issued as one of six landowner deposits for land owned by the Diocese in Surrey.

Limpsfield currently has a vacancy for a new Parish Councillor, following the resignation of Bernie de Haldevang after many years of much appreciated and valuable service to our community – Thank you Bernie!
The resignation was announced at our Annual Parish Meeting on 8 May, and following the statutory notice period, as there has been no call for a by-election, the position will now be filled by co-option.
We’re keen to hear from residents who are passionate about our local area and want to make a difference. If you are eligible to stand, and interested in representing your community, we’d love to hear from you.
