Parish Council Meetings: the way it works…

Here’s a quick reminder, or explanation for the uninitiated, as to how the monthly Limpsfield Parish Council meetings work and how you can find out what’s going on, what’s been discussed, or even attend a meeting…

We meet in the hall of Limpsfield CofE Infants School on the second Monday of every month, with a few exceptions – if the day falls on a bank holiday or over an election period etc. We generally do not hold a meeting in August.

The agenda for the monthly meeting is posted to the Full Council Meetings page on the website and onto Parish noticeboards on the Wednesday prior to the monthly meeting.

Noticeboards are in the following locations:

  • Oxted Library – On the wall on the way up to Health Centre
  • Memorial Stores – on the corner of Priest Hill
  • Limpsfield Chart – Tally Road by the Carpenters car park
  • Parish / St Peter’s Church Joint Noticeboard – near entrance to the Church Hall car park

If there are any other locations you think would be relevant or useful, please let us know.

Minutes of the monthly meetings are recorded and signed off at the following meeting, then posted onto the website. They can also be emailed to parishioners on request.

If parishioners have any specific items they wish to be discussed at the monthly meetings, please email the clerk: clerk@limpsfield.org with any documents. If anyone wishes to attend the public session at the beginning of the monthly meeting, they are very welcome, but are required to register with the clerk by Wednesday of the previous week if possible.

Planning meetings

Every month, the Planning Committee meets at the Parish Office of St Peter’s (entrance in St Peter’s Church Hall car park) on the 4th Tuesday of the month (with occasional changes) to discuss planning matters. At this meeting we review all new applications in the Limpsfield parish and decide if we have any reason for objection or comment. NB. Meetings may not held in August or December depending on when the date falls around Christmas.

Applications are considered on the basis of their compliance with the criteria set out in our Neighbourhood Plan.

We will then send a letter to Tandridge District Council registering any objections or supportive comments if necessary, and these have to be considered by the District Council in accordance with our Neighbourhood Plan, but we do not have final say with regards to the ultimate decision. Please see full details of how it works with the LPC on our Planning page.

If you have any planning issues you wish to have discussed at the Planning Committee Meeting, please contact the clerk.

Other meetings are held by the Finance Committee (usually the first week of the quarter) and the Neighbourhood Plan Committee (2-3 times per year). Please see Meetings page for dates.

We hope that makes things clearer for you! Please get in touch with any questions.

Meeting dates can all be found here.
